Finding and trusting your care provider is one of the harder decisions in this journey. I wanted to share a little about myself and how it all started.
Hi, I'm Gabby Hardin, and my story of taking care of women started many years ago, when I was living in Thailand. I was working at a Girl's Home for Hill tribe girls who were at risk of being trafficked. That was some of the heaviest work I have ever done but really those two years were the start of it all. I came back to the States and wanted to keep building my platform so I went to Massage School, where it just so happened that pregnant ladies kept seeking me out. After working with pregnant mamas in massage, I decided to do a Doula training, where I witnessed my first birth. And after that first birth, I knew this was it. This was my calling and had to keep going.
After being a Doula for three years I decided it was time for Midwifery School. I attended Mercy in Action College of Midwifery and finished with my Bachelor of Science in Midwifery. I then later sat for the NARM certification and became a Certified Professional Midwife, while also holding a license in Tennessee. I have worked at busy Birth Centers on the West Coast, and Birth Centers on the East Coast. I have also worked for two years in Mexico where I attended births at home, hospital, and at a Birth Center. And out of all the the places I've worked, there is just something so special about homebirth.
Homebirth is again beginning to be remembered as the perfect place to welcome our babies. I have seen a huge shift in families interested in homebirth and the remembering of the greatness we have forgotten about. There is something so incredibly sacred about gently birthing your baby and then tucking you into your bed while you snuggle with your family. Midwifery care in this capacity offers that. It offers the sweet moments in this journey that we often forget can be there. It offers evidence based care while also walking beside you as you become a mother.
My heart and passion is this. It is holding you and your family, guiding you when needed, listening to you and trusting your mama intuition. Understanding that I am there to witness and keep safe your wishes and desires. Keeping you and baby safe, and fighting for the fact that this can be an experience that changes your life for the better. Out of the hundreds of births I have attended not one has been the same, and there is so much humility in that. It doesn't mean that the whole journey is easy, it means we can walk through it together. Midwifery is that and so much more to me. It would be a privilege to serve you and your family, to get to know you, and grow with you. Welcoming babies into families, and witnessing women becoming mothers has been the biggest honor of my life.
